It was launched initially as a four-seat convertible, making its début at the 1948 Earls Court Motor Show in London, with production models built between early 1949 and late 1950. The Austin A90 Atlantic is a British car produced by the Austin Motor Company from 1949 to 1952

As with the Austin, brakes are Girling hydromechanicals. It was only in 1952 that hydraulic rear brakes came in on the RMs - at which stage the torque tube was deleted - but by then the roadster was long gone. Short life was indeed a common feature of the two cars. The Atlantic was launched in September 1948, alongside the A70 Hampshire saloon.

Produced between 1949-1952 the Atlantic was designed very futuristic looking car, and targeted to US market against domestic builds like Buick and Chevrolet. However, of only 7900 cars (both coupé and cabriolet!) ever produced roughly 320 examples were imported to US. Only 60 is believed to survive, with roughly half in roadworthy condition.
